THE EXECUTIVE COMMITTEE
The Executive Committee of Hertford & District Dog Training Society (HDDTS) deals with the administrative side of the club, organising the finances, membership, venue, AGM, liaison with the Kennel Club, insurances etcetera, to enable the trainers to concentrate on the important task of helping you train your dogs.Our main task is to ensure that the club runs smoothly and that there are sufficient funds from your weekly class fees to cover the rent at the Drill Hall, provide training for new trainers and advanced courses for our more experienced trainers and to cover general running costs.
In the past, whenever there have been sufficient funds available, we have also donated substantial sums to charities such as local animal shelters and to provide support dogs for people with epilepsy.
We are very fortunate to have Malcolm Michael as President of HDDTS. He has been actively involved with the club since its inception in the early 60's as both trainer and chairman; he is regularly in attendance
on a Thursday evening and can be found sitting near the treasurer's desk. There are currently 10 active members of the Executive Committee:
Chairman - Peter Bonnell chairs Executive Committee meetings & the AGM and gives the introductory welcome talk to new members.
Treasurer - Lee Sorrell keeps a tight reign on the finances and organises the bookkeeping & merchandise.
Secretary - Tracy Everett keeps accurate minutes of all committee meetings and is responsible for all HDDTS matters with the Kennel Club and any correspondence with the members and between the club and the outside world.
Vice Chairman - Patrick Leamy stands in for Peter when necessary. He also organises the purchase of the thousands of poo bags we get through!
Assistant Treasurer - Jean Elliott is probably the person the membership knows best as Jean sits at the desk each week collecting the class fees.
Assistant Secretary - Sue Owen stands in for Tracy when necessary and organises the rosettes & trophies for the internal competitions and the AGM.
Intake Secretary - Sandra Warner organises the waiting list for new members and the introductory night for beginners, taking the subscriptions and checking that dogs have been vaccinated.
Committee members - Ted Ayres, Faye Matthews and Roy Stebbeds all contribute towards the decisions made by the committee and energetically carry out other tasks as required.
